Making Healthy Strides in November
- If you have a passion for health and wellness, consider becoming a Healthy Strides Ambassador! You can help lead the charge for a healthier community – more info at our website.
- Try volunteering for 15 hours this month. If you can’t commit to 15 hours, any of your time is valuable.
- Are you completing your Daily Mile? Did you know… Getting outside during daylight hours in colder weather increases levels of serotonin and burns more calories.
We Love Park Volunteers
Volunteering is about giving, contributing and helping other individuals and the community. Volunteering means working with others to make a meaningful contribution to a better community. At the Park Authority, we are always looking for people to help in our Parks. With over 400 parks in the Fairfax system, there’s plenty to do!
The Park Authority staff is happy to welcome individuals, groups and organizations looking for volunteering opportunities in the parks. We will find a project suitable for your group size and desired goals. Another fun way to volunteer in the parks is through a PVT – Parks Volunteer Team. These teams are setup in parks around the county and in place to support park operations, maintenance and programs.
It’s so easy to volunteer – check out all of the FCPA opportunities online at Parks Volunteer. All volunteers get training necessary to keep you safe and able to perform your tasks effectively. Parks volunteers are special – they help maintain an invaluable resource for our community. “Parks and playgrounds are the soul of a city.” – Marty Rubin
